When I started Agency Content Writer in 2010, I wrote social media posts and blog posts for small businesses in Mesa, Arizona. Now, 16 years later, after one move to Charlotte and a stack of books, I’m bringing blog writing back.
Technically, it never left. I spent eight years writing the blog for AB Staffing (now Fortis Healthcare) while my business grew into books. What’s new is who these blogs serve now, and why.
Key Takeaways
- Blog writing is where Agency Content Writer started. I wrote blog posts and social media content for small businesses beginning in 2010, before moving to book ghostwriting.
- The service is back for two kinds of clients. Businesses that need consistent blog content, and future authors who want an audience and an email list before their book comes out.
- Shorter posts come first. Starting with blog posts lets us learn how we work together before anyone commits to a full manuscript.
How It Started: Short Posts, Long Posts, and a Layoff
In 2010, a corporate layoff pushed me into freelance writing. I started with what small businesses needed most: short social media posts and longer blog posts. For years, that was the job. Over time, though, the writing got stale. My interests were changing, too.
Why I Went Long (Really Long)
In 2021, the pandemic gave me time to reflect. Networking led me to an author whose journals and blog posts shared a leadership theme, and together we turned them into a book. Around the same time, I released my own book, We Don’t Get to Ring the Bell. After that, I moved into book ghostwriting, which is about as long-form as writing gets. Books gave me room to dig into a person’s whole story instead of one post’s worth.
Since then, I’ve started loving blogging again and want to offer blog writing to my clients. I’ll let you in on a secret. I’m writing my next book using the blog-to-book process to refine it. Along the way, I’ll share what I learn and the book’s content with you.
Blogs and Books Need Each Other
I now realize there’s a need for blog writing, both for businesses and for people who plan to write a book someday.
Businesses need blog content that shows up on schedule and sounds like them. Meanwhile, future authors need something most of them don’t think about until launch day: readers who already know their voice.
A blog builds that audience. Shared through email and social media, it also grows the email list a book launch depends on. I make that case in more detail in Blogging Before the Book.
How Blog Writing Works Now
We can start with shorter blog posts. They’re a low-pressure way to learn how we work together before anyone talks about a manuscript.
Every post runs through the same STORIES Framework I use for books. That means the posts you publish now are already shaped like material a book can use later.
When you’re ready, those posts can become a book through From Posts to Pages. Until then, they keep working for you on your website.
You’ll find packages, pricing, and what’s included on the Blog Writing Services page.
I started with blog posts, wandered off to write books, and came back with a better reason to write blogs. Everyone has a story. Yours just needs to be told, and sometimes it starts with one blog post instead of a whole manuscript.
Maybe you’re a business that needs a steady blog. Maybe you’re a future author who wants readers waiting when the book arrives. Either way, schedule a consultation and let’s talk about where your story starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does blog writing cost?
Blog writing starts at two posts a month for $500, with one round of revisions and WordPress uploading included. Articles and guest posts also start at $500. You’ll find what’s included on the Blog Writing Services page.
Can my blog posts become a book later?
Yes. Through From Posts to Pages, I help you sort the posts you’ve published, find the throughline, and shape them into an edited draft ready for final edit and publishing.
