About Anne

Anne McAuley Lopez is a Charlotte-based book coach, ghostwriter, and content strategist who helps entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and nonprofit executives write the books they've been talking about for years.

Her writing career began in 2010 when she was laid off from corporate America. She launched Agency Content Writer as McAuley Freelance Writing. What started as social media posts grew into blogging for businesses and digital marketing agencies, and eventually evolved into book coaching and ghostwriting services.

In 2016, just four months after getting married, Anne was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). The diagnosis prompted deep reflection about priorities, values, and how she wanted to spend her time. She wrote her first book, We Don’t Get to Ring the Bell: My CML Story, a memoir that answers the most commonly asked questions about living with CML. To date, she’s sold 380+ copies and given away dozens to cancer patients and supporters.

The question she asks most often: Where are you now with your book idea, and where do you want to be?

When Anne isn’t writing or coaching, she explores Charlotte with her husband, stepsons, and dog. Her hobbies include photography, wine tasting, and travel. She thinks Kauai, Hawaii, is heaven on earth. Anne and her husband volunteer with Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) and have raised more than $65,000 for blood cancer research and awareness.

Anne's Philosophy on Content and AI

“The hill I am willing to die on is that AI doesn’t know your stories or the story of your business or nonprofit. It doesn’t know that on your first business trip you ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches out of the cooler in the trunk of your car. AI doesn’t know you love dogs or that you grew a business during a recession. It doesn’t know your family stories that cause everyone to belly laugh when reshared every holiday. That’s where professional writers can shine. We are the storytellers.”
