About Anne McAuley Lopez
Book Coach, Ghostwriter, and Content Strategist
“Everyone has a story. Yours just needs to be written.”
I’ve loved words as long as I can remember. When given the choice, I’d write an essay before any other option. I loved it when the bonus questions were essays. That passion for storytelling has shaped every aspect of my career as a professional writer since 2010.
My writing career began when I was laid off from corporate America. I launched Agency Content Writer with a blog created by a college student and a logo designed by a graphic designer friend. What started as social media posts grew into blogging for businesses and digital marketing agencies, and eventually evolved into book coaching and ghostwriting services.
From Writing About Stories to Writing My Own
In 2016, just four months after getting married, I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). The diagnosis changed everything about how I viewed my time and priorities. I realized I had a story that needed to be told.
I worked with a book coach and editor to write We Don’t Get to Ring the Bell: My CML Story, a memoir that answers the most commonly asked questions about living with CML. Going through the book writing process myself taught me what authors need most: accountability, strategic guidance, and someone who understands both the technical process and the emotional journey of getting your story onto the page.
That experience shaped how I work with clients today. I understand what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by the blank page, to wonder if your story matters, and to need someone who believes in your message when you’re not sure you do. To date, I’ve sold 480+ copies of my book and given away dozens to cancer patients and supporters.
My husband and I volunteer with Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) and have raised more than $65,000 for blood cancer research and awareness.
From Phoenix to Charlotte
In June 2022, my husband and I moved from Phoenix, Arizona, to Charlotte, North Carolina. The move brought us closer to family and opened new opportunities to serve entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and nonprofit executives who are ready to write their books.
What I Do Now
Agency Content Writer specializes in three core services:
Book Coaching
I guide you through writing your nonfiction book with accountability, strategic planning, and support every step of the way.
Book Ghostwriting
I write your book for you while you focus on running your business or nonprofit. Your name goes on the cover, your message reaches your audience.
Speaking Engagements
I speak on topics including writing your book without sacrificing your business, AI’s role in content creation, and living and working with chronic illness.
The AI Question
Since AI’s evolution, I’ve been asked why a business or nonprofit would hire a writer. The answer is that AI can spit out the basics but cannot tell stories.
AI doesn’t know that on your first business trip, you stayed in your car and made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches three times a day because the budget was nonexistent. AI doesn’t know your dog’s name or that you grew a business during a recession. It doesn’t know your family stories that cause everyone to belly laugh every holiday.
Your story deserves more than a robot.
Beyond the Keyboard
From a young age, I was introduced to the world of nonprofit work. Whether it was fundraising events, walks for cures, or building homes, I’ve always been passionate about helping people in my community. This shaped how I work with nonprofit leaders today, creating content that connects their mission to their target audience.
When I’m not writing or coaching, I explore Charlotte with my husband, stepsons, and dog. My hobbies include photography, wine tasting, and travel. I think Kauai, Hawaii, is heaven on earth.
The Question I Ask Most Often
Where are you now with your book idea, and where do you want to be?
Whether you’re a business professional, nonprofit leader, or entrepreneur with a story to share, I’d love to learn more about you and help you tell your story. That might mean blog posts for your website, or it might mean finally writing that book you’ve been talking about for years.
Everyone has a story. Yours just needs to be written.
